5 Favorite Hiking Trails and Parks Near Springdale AR

For those that enjoy the great outdoors, hiking and going to parks is just something that’s a way of life and a weekly, if not daily, occurrence. Nature is relaxing, good for the soul, and great for detoxing when work, family, or any other part of life gets a little overwhelming. Taking the kids, family, or dogs out for a bit of a hike through the trails and parks near Springdale, AR is something that most folks will find appealing.

1. J.B. Hunt Park

On over 200 acres of land this massive park has not only areas for recreational sports, but plenty of trails for hiking and biking. There are also areas for swing sets for the kids if one wants to spend the day with them in a natural surrounding. This park is easy to get to and has plenty of parking for those that go, making it a great day trip. Bring the family along for a great bike ride or hike, and the memories made will be top-notch.

2. Mud Creek Trail Corridor

This corridor of trails mainly used for biking and hiking covers over 36 miles of paved roads primarily off-road and away from the hazards of being around cars. The Razorback Greenway is the main trailhead while this is a smaller part of it and connects Walker Park in Fayetteville to Lake Bella Vista just north of Bentonville. Along the way, there are plenty of stops in the form of businesses, schools, and cultural centers that one can go to for some entertainment.

3. Carol E. Van Scyoc Trailhead

Another great spot to access The Razorback Greenway, the Van Scyoc Trailhead is a great place to walk or bike when it’s hot out due to the shade that it provides and plenty of nature to take in. There is a parking lot specific to this trailhead so that hikers and bikers have easy access and the ability to get on the trail as soon as possible, and the trail follows a creek for a little while if dipping toes in the water are something that is enjoyed.

4. Lake Fayetteville Park

Along this lake, there are plenty of off trails that are great for mountain biking or just hiking to get away from the rigors of town or city life and just be immersed within nature. With its 458 acres of land and 194 acres of water, this is a must-see park that hikers and bikers will want to go to to get away for the day. It includes a disc golf course, Veterans Memorial Park, Boat dock and Marina, Softball Complex, and boat and bike rentals among many other things.

5. Niokaska Creek Trail Corridor

Another trail off The Razorback Greenway, this is a beautiful walk or bike ride that will wind nature lovers through the area, though there will be no views of the lake. There are plenty of picnic tables, benches, and other amenities along the way for those that would like to spend the day lounging in the sun, and for those that want to be more active, there are paved trails.
