7 Favorite Spots to Get Outdoors Near Springdale AR

There is no shortage of outdoor activities in Springdale, AR, and finding things to do, shouldn’t be a problem. With 22 athletic complexes, 36 football fields, tennis courts, pavilions, and an array of parks and picnic spots scattered around the city, you can have all the fun in the sun that you need.

Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

Stroll through the twelve individually themed gardens and be delighted in the variety of native and non-native plant species. The gardens also have the only native butterfly house in the country. As part of the garden’s environmental awareness programs, they host educational workshops, classes, and lectures for adults in horticulture, and other topics of interest. Most of the programs are designed for children of all ages.

Arvest Ballpark

This is the city’s favorite park, with seating for more than 7,300 people, and in addition to hosting over 70 ballgames during the summer months, this is where festivals, fairs, and general merrymaking happen throughout the year.

Parsons Stadium

Here you can experience a variety of exciting events throughout the year. Join over 10,000 people each night for the Rodeo of the Ozarks and enjoy a slice of the Wild West. The stadium also hosts the Ozark Demolition Derby and Monster Truck performances.

Murphy Park

This 40-acres of outdoor fun includes fishing for bream, trout, catfish, and bass in the pond, hiking along the 0.75-mile trail, and playing volleyball. There are a play structure and a swing set as well as picnic tables around the park.

Aquatic Center

Pack a picnic basket, grab a towel and a bottle of suntan lotion, and enjoy a day of swimming and sun tanning. The pool has two 1m and 3m springboards, there is a diving well, and for the little ones, an awesome splash pad. If your stomach starts rumbling, unpack your picnic basket at the pavilion or at one of the picnic shelters.

C. L. “Charlie” and Willie George Park

Get active outdoors playing tennis, football, baseball, and soccer. Bring your dog along to stretch his legs on the paved walking trail or at the dog park. Kids can have fun at the splash pad or on the play structures. Don’t forget your picnic basket.

JB Hunt Park

The 200-acres park features the beautiful Lake Springfield and is perfect for hooking largemouth bass, catfish, trout, and bream. You can also take your boat out on the lake. Baseball and softball fields, a disc golf course, and hiking and biking trails offer plenty to do.

The paved Lake Springdale Trail circles the lake and connects with Spring Creek Trail and Silent Grove Trail. The trails are also part of the 36-mile Razorback Regional Greenway that runs between Bella Vista Lake in Bentonville and Fayetteville. Have an outdoor lunch at one of the picnic spots or pavilions.
