Pack your outdoor gear in your Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross or Outlander and go on an adventure in one of the beautiful state parks close to Springdale, AR. Kick back and relax in breathtaking natural surroundings and enjoy numerous recreational activities.

1. Hobbs Conservation Area

The breathtaking Hobbs Conservation Area at 20201 East Highway 12 in Rogers is just a short 37-minute drive from Springdale. The untouched natural area stretches out over the Ozark landscape and along the southern shore of Beaver Lake for 12,054-acres and is the largest conservation area in the state. It’s also the only park in Arkansas that allows hunting.

Hit 54 miles of trails on foot, mountain bike, or in the saddle to explore the park’s natural beauty and stay over at scenic campsites deep in the woods. The park has 11 primitive campsites, of which six can be reached by mountain bike. Pigeon Roost, the park’s hike-in campground, is approximately a four-mile hike set in a densely wooded area. There are scenic campsites on Karst Loop, accessible on foot or mountain bike, with spectacular views of Beaver Lake.

2. Devil’s Den State Park

Take a 33-mile drive out to Devil’s Den State Park at 11333 West Arkansas Highway 74 in West Fork and explore the magnificent rock formations and caverns in Devil’s Den State Park in the picturesque Lee Creek Valley. The beautifully preserved wood and stone buildings and cabins were built from natural materials in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

A rock dam spans Lee Creek forming the beautiful 8-acre Lake Devil, the ultimate spot in the region for fishing, boating, and paddling. Hike, mountain bike, or horseback ride down miles of trails that wind through the park and run to the Ozark National Forest. There are 17 cozy cabins with kitchens and fireplaces and six camper cabins if you want to stay over. The campground has 135 full hookup and primitive tent and RV sites near the swimming pool and restrooms.


3. Lake Fort Smith State Park

The extraordinary Lake Fort Smith State Park is just over 46 miles away at 15458 Sheperd Springs Road in Mountainburg, nestled in the picturesque Boston Mountain Valley of the Ozarks on the banks of Lake Fort Smith. The park has miles of hiking and mountain biking trails to explore, including the western terminus of the 240-mile Ozark Highlands Trail. The park also offers excellent opportunities for paddling and fishing in the lake.

Take a dip in the swimming pool, rent watercraft at the marina, and if you want to pitch your tent or park your RV, the park has 30 RV and tent sites. If you prefer a bit more comfort, there are also ten cabins and two group lodges. Pop in at the visitor center to look at the replicas of a pioneer log cabin, a covered wagon, and exhibits on the region’s history.
